Huawei is the most restricted networking brand in the United States. It is on the US Department of Commerce's Entity List, meaning American companies cannot supply it with technology without a license. Huawei routers are not authorized for sale in the United States and cannot receive FCC equipment authorization. Any Huawei router in a US home was purchased either before restrictions took effect, through gray market channels, or abroad. Huawei is state-linked and has been determined by Congress to pose an unacceptable national security risk. Using a Huawei router in the US is not illegal for consumers, but it carries significant risk and receives zero firmware support.
Bottom line: Replace immediately. Huawei is fully banned in the US, receives no firmware updates, and is subject to Chinese state intelligence law.
Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. claims employee ownership through a holding company structure (Huawei Investment & Holding Co., Ltd.), but the ownership structure has never been independently verified. Founder Ren Zhengfei holds approximately 1% of shares. The US government has formally designated Huawei a national security threat under the National Defense Authorization Act, the FCC's Covered List, and the Entity List.

Yes. Huawei is on the US Entity List and its routers cannot receive FCC equipment authorization, making them effectively banned from legal US sale. If you have a Huawei router, replacement is strongly recommended.
There is no law preventing a consumer from using an existing Huawei router, but it is strongly inadvisable. Huawei provides no security updates for US market devices, it is subject to Chinese state intelligence law, and US security agencies have assessed Huawei as a national security risk.
Huawei has been assessed by US intelligence agencies, Congress (through PCLOB and HPSCI reports), and the executive branch as posing unacceptable national security risks due to its links to the Chinese government and military. The specific concern is that Huawei equipment could be used for surveillance or to disrupt communications infrastructure.
