Apple discontinued its entire AirPort router line in 2018 - AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express, and Time Capsule are all permanently discontinued. Apple has not issued a security update for any AirPort product since discontinuation. This means any vulnerability discovered in an Apple AirPort router today will never be patched. Apple is a US company with no Chinese ownership concern and no FCC ban risk, but the permanent end-of-life status makes AirPort routers categorically unsafe for continued use as your primary router.
